Our Lobby Group for Breast Cancer Reconstruction has identified two gaps in service for Women in the Eastern Ontario Region.
- There is a gap in awareness that Breast Cancer Reconstruction Surgery is available in Ottawa
- There is minimal surgery time available for Breast Cancer Patients who want to access this service within a reasonable waiting time.
Our Lobby group has been drawn together to advocate for the closure of gaps in service for Breast Cancer Patients requiring surgery in the Eastern Ontario Region. It is our goal to increase awareness that this service is available to patients who would like to have reconstruction either at the time of mastectomy, or afterwards as delayed reconstruction. Given the continued growth in Breast Cancer Diagnosis in Canadian Women, the demand shall only continue to increase for this service locally. Consequently, this gap in service needs to be addressed without delay and changes implemented to accommodate for the growing needs for our community.
